Barry Island (Welsh: Ynys y Barri) is a peninsula forming part of the town of Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales.
Since the joining of Barry Island to the mainland, it has grown into
a traditional seaside with its pleasure park, amusement arcades with
the picturesque crescent sandy beach of Whitmore Bay, and inviting
promenade and rock pools. With its many other adjacent beaches along
its south facing coastline.
The many amusement arcades provide hours of entertainment for the
video game or ‘bandit’ enthusiast, with pool and the more traditional
amusements also available. Seafront shops with all manner of gifts,
tempt the taste buds with ‘Barry Island rock’, candy floss and fish and
chips, and even the odd pub and night club with a wide range of accommodation available.
